Cory, who was born at a biomedical research laboratory in New York where he was raised by human caretakers, keeps an eye on other chimps from his perch in the play room at the Primate Rescue Center in Nicholasville, Ky. Friday Jan. 3, 2014. Cory was rescued and has been living at the PRC since 1996 and is one of the more intelligent chimps at the center, having learned a number of hand and verbal signals. The Primate Rescue Center is a nationally respected sanctuary housing more than 50 primates, including 11 chimpanzees and attempts to help suffering primates through sanctuary, education and legislative reform.
