Juneteenth is the annual celebration in Lexington of the Day the Emancipation Proclamation was read in Galveston, Texas. The African Cemetery No. 2 on 7th Street in Lexington is the oldest recorded cemetery in Lexington to be organized, owned, and managed by African Americans.
