Victoria still shows the scars from her previous life before she was rescued and placed at the Primate Rescue Center in Nicholasville, Ky., pictured on Friday Jan. 3, 2014. Victoria came to the Primate Rescue Center in 1998 from Dahlonega, Georgia, where she and other chimps had been locked in a concrete bunker. She was the least dominant of her group and was malnourished due to her poor diet and stress resulting in a number of health issues, including losing her hair and deformed ears. Her feet were deformed from having been forced into roller skates during performances and photo ops. The Primate Rescue Center is a nationally respected sanctuary housing more than 50 primates, including 11 chimpanzees and attempts to help suffering primates through sanctuary, education and legislative reform.
