Angie Martin is hugged by friend Catherine Miller as they and friends of Umi Southworth and members of the Meadowthorpe neighborhood gathered to remember the life of Southworth in Lexington, Ky., on 6/16/10. Umi Southworth was a resident of the neighborhood who was discovered beaten near her home earlier this week and later died. Angie Martin and her husband Vernon befriended Umi and her daughter Almira through music performances and Angie said that Umi was a dear friend to her while she was dealing with the death of her son a few years ago. The Martins used to live in Lexington but drove down from Indiana for the vigil. Catherine Miller is from Lexington. Photo by David Stephenson
