Energy efficient housing program

Gov. Steve Beshear greeted Leona Pena as he toured her home after a press conference officially launching the pilot program of Kentucky's Clean Energy Corps in Lexington, Ky., on Thursday, February 26, 2009. Pena's home, on Northside Drive, was retrofitted with energy efficient appliances, windows, furnace and insulation as part of the program which aims to make homes 20-30 percent more energy efficient in order to save low income families money and reduce demand for electricity. The holes in the wall at right are where insulation was to be blown in the walls.
